State Schools Spectacular!

Mrs Meeking

Our State Schools Spectacular Team performed in two shows on Saturday 10th September.  What a journey these young people have experienced! They took a risk joining the group, not just because a friend was keen but because they wanted to explore the Arts.  They have had expert training, witnessed high calibre technology and seen a huge production come together helping them understand the wonderful possibilities in this exciting choice of entertainment.  They have marveled at amazing costumes, circus performance, talented musicians (as young as twelve) and dedicated soloists.

On Wednesday the 17th of August and Wednesday the 20th of July a group of Kyabram P-12 College students hopped on a bus and headed to the Melbourne Town Hall where we had our State Schools Spectacular rehearsals.

There were hundreds of students there from different schools all over the state, and there was a lot of sitting down and standing up. We had to not only sing, but dance as well.

After a big day of all that sitting and standing we were all very tired, but luckily we were allowed to get five dollars for McDonalds on the way home.

We have all been getting up really early for our trips to Melbourne and have also been practicing twice a week at school on Mondays and Wednesdays.

A big thank you to Rossy, Ms Goff and especially Mrs Meeking. I have really enjoyed the singing, as well as the dancing, and thanks for the McDonalds!

Some Wednesdays State Schools Spec kids wake up around 5am in the morning putting lots of effort into getting ready.  I saw Jedda and we sprinted to the back of the bus. For the Melbourne rehearsals we had to be at the bus stop around 6:15am. We also saved a seat for Holly.

Once we got there we went to the toilet and about five minutes later it started. There was lots of standing up and sitting down to sing but it was a lot of fun. We did some songs and at the end we did some dances. Then we went back to Ky with a stop at McDonalds or KFC for a snack. We got back to Kyabram about 6:30pm. It was fun but it had to end.
