JAXON SCHMIDT - ROCKET SCIENCE

One of our Year 8 students, Jaxon Schmidt took part in rocket science crash course offered by Port Phillip Library. Jaxon was the standout student!

Below is some information sent from the organiser:

Dear Brighton Secondary College,

Port Phillip Libraries would like to pass along our congratulations to one of your students, Jaxon Schmidt.

During September and October this year our libraries invited Jaxon and a small group of local high school students to join us for our 4-week crash course in rocket science, called the Apollo Program.

For four weeks, the students spent their Saturday afternoons learning about the wonders of space, engineering and physics. At the end of the last class, we had a range of special guests there to present certificates of completion to the students and congratulate them for their outstanding achievements. All students managed to achieve orbit and design rockets capable of landing on the moon.

Jaxon however, was the only student who managed the challenge of creating a rocket that was capable of visiting the moon and returning with a sample of mined materials. This was a remarkable achievement, especially for someone their age.

The feedback we had from our guest facilitators was outstandingly positive about your student. Thus, we offer our congratulations to your school and your student.
