Captains News

Noah:

Hi again and welcome back to Captain’s News.

Sorry, I haven’t written in a while there’s been a bit much going on at the moment. This week on Captain’s News: Inter School cricket, A Science incursion, first aid and more.

To start off with, I think I’ll talk about Inter School Cricket. Students from years 5 and 6 went on a little trip to Gardeners Creek last Friday to play some cricket, but this wasn’t just any cricket. The rules were modified as well as the field and time.

Some of the modifications included: Double runs for batting the ball in front of you e.g 4=8 and 6=12. batters couldn’t go out. Instead, when they got out the other team were given an extra 5 runs regardless if they had batted or not, and shortened game time.

Great job to all of the kids that came along, you gave a great effort regardless!

Moving on. All classes around the school got to participate in some really cool science experiments which included dry ice! In Year 6, we got to learn about the different states of matter and what each state might be called. Our first experiment included using dry ice, boiling water, food dye and washing detergent. When mixed together we got an eruption of foamy bubbles caused by the reaction of the dry ice mixing with the hot water.

Lastly, I'd like to talk about first aid. We all know first aid is important but just to keep it fresh in our minds we had a doctor come in and explain it to us. Different classes obviously did different things because they might not have been ready for it. But I know that Year 6 got the chance to go through every letter in the DRSABCD. My favourite part was CPR where we got to practise on dummies.

And that's it! Happy Friday everyone! See you next time but for now, it’s goodbye.

Dylan:

On Friday 11th of November, the fives and sixes had inter-school cricket. I was in the all-star team. We won one out of four games but got really close to winning 2 games. We all had a really good time and were all supportive of each other and had a great time!
