Year 9

Mentone Campus

It is hard to believe the 2022 school year is coming to an end.  The Year 9 students have whole-heartedly embraced their first full year being onsite since they entered the gates of St Bede’s College in February 2020. They have focused well in the classroom, and contributed positively to a productive learning environment. Within the curriculum, they have really enjoyed the opportunity to select from a range of elective subjects which has caught their interest. External to the classroom, the ACC sporting competition has been a huge success, along with student representation in Public Speaking, Debating, Chess, Golf and Performing Arts.

More recently - and a highlight of Term 4 - has been the opportunity for the Year 9 group to explore significant Melbourne landmarks by participating in our iCity excursions.  This experience has encouraged decision-making, teamwork, independence and responsibility within each Homeroom. Students were faced with the challenge of visiting a minimum of 12 of 15 Melbourne landmarks allocated to them. Prior to the excursion, students researched the historical significance of each location. Despite the temperamental weather, the excursion proved to be a great success.

Following the Semester 2 exam period, Year 9 are now looking forward to moving to the Senior Years Hub.  Soon they will meet their Tutor Group and House Coordinator, and commence their Unit 1 studies across their Year 10 subjects. On behalf of the Year 9 Homeroom teachers, I would like to wish each student every success as they embark on their senior school journey.

Indeed, we thank all Year 9 students for the myriad of positive ways they have participated at school, respected their teachers, enjoyed the company of their school mates and tried their best in and outside the classroom.

Thank you, gentlemen. You have been an outstanding year level.
