Old Collegians Association

Finian Foundation Charity Golf Day

The Finian Foundation was established as a registered charity by St Bede’s Old Collegians Association in 2005. Since its inception, the charity has a proud history of raising funds that give aid to families who are undergoing significant economic hardship.

On Thursday 27 October, approximately 120 Old Collegians braved the weather to attended the Finian Foundation Charity Golf Day.

This day was only made possible with the help from a group of truly incredible people and their associated business. We are thrilled to announced that this event has raised a record breaking $42,762.08!  This money will ensure that 14 of our most in-need St Bede’s students can continue their studies with the College, allowing them the stability and support that each young person deserves from their education.

Col. Jimmy Doolittle said ‘Nothing is stronger than the heart of a volunteer’. These words could not describe Finian Foundation Director, Tony Quint, more aptly. Thank you, Tony, for your time, dedication and passion. This event would not have what it was without your unwavering commitment to its success.

We would also like to thank our incredible sponsors for the day;

Military Honour Roll

On Friday 28 October 2022, St Bede's College, Mentone Campus, hosted the long-anticipated Military Honour Roll unveiling. This event was three years in the making, with Old Collegian - Geoff Hatherley (1963) -  finding, contacting and researching hundreds of fellow Old Collegians to collate stories of time served, and arranging for all Honourees and their guests to attend the unveiling.

The event was MC'd by Tony Quint, with the new addition to the Hall being officially unveiled by Principal, Deb Frizza, Old Collegians President , Jason Smythe, and Geoff Hatherley. Honoured guests included Navy Vice Admiral J. Mead, Army Private R. Addison, and Airforce Aircraftsman C. Ryan.

We were also honoured to welcome Mr Michael Maddon - Recipient of the Victorian Cross and author of "The Victoria Cross, Australia Remembers" - spoke about his journey to discover the one-hundred Australians who have been awarded the Victorian Cross.

The Old Collegians Association would like to extend a very sincere 'Thank-You' to Geoff Hatherley for all his hard work in making the event a success, and to all those who gave their time to attend the days proceedings.
