“Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing”. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

Sunday, November 13th was World Kindness Day. It is always good to remind ourselves to be kind to others, especially as loving kindness is part of the MSC constitution. We like to remind everyone at Monivae about this on a regular basis. Kindness is something we can do every day and doesn’t cost us anything.

The MSC talk about kindness as well, and Father Jules Chevalier set the early MSC the goal of being kind to solve the ills of his time – not much has changed.

On Sunday the 23rd of October we held the Thanksgiving Mass, recognizing the anniversary of the death of the founder of the MSC, Father Jules Chevalier. He died on the 21st of October 1907. Monivae strives hard to remember the message that Father Jules Chevalier spread about Jesus Christ – “remember the power of love” – and encourages us all to “be on earth the heart of God”

The importance of being on earth the heart of God was shared with our Year 7 Cohort during the Year 7 Reflection day, held on Wednesday the 16th of November. Students from Year 10 had the opportunity to live the message by being involved in the day with the Year 7 students. A great day was had by all.

November has also brought an early touch of Christmas to Monivae. As we finish up in early December it was decided to follow the Catholic Social teaching of Human Dignity;  to simply treat all human beings the same. As our Students and Staff are looking forward to a well-earned break, and with plenty to cheer about at Christmas, the Monivae community has been encouraged to make sure everyone gets the same opportunity to feel the joy.

In enacting this, a "Giving" Christmas tree has been put up in the front foyer.  Here non-wrapped gifts may be left. These will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal at the end of the year.

Finally, the week was completed with a celebration as we joined the Year 12s at their Graduation Mass and Dinner. More on this event will appear in is the next newsletter.
