Congratulations to students and families on another week that has highlighted the resilience, love of learning and determination of MPRPS. We are so impressed with the fantastic engagement of students over Google Meets in our check ins, small groups and when completing Seesaw tasks. It is always a highlight getting to see each other on screen each morning to help us start our day in the Green Zone! As always, please feel free to reach out to your classroom teacher if you have any questions throughout this time. We are looking forward to speaking with families over the phone this week for our Parent-Teacher Interviews.

In Literacy this week, students have focused on their persuasive writing skills by creating an advertisement for a toy or place. Students brainstormed convincing reasons using a mindmap and tried to convince their teacher to purchase the product or visit the destination. It was impressive to see students challenging themselves to use their character strength of creativity to develop unique reasons and to think of wow words to add descriptive detail. Then a few days later, students had the opportunity to use their plan to create a more detailed ad by either filming, writing a speech or designing a poster. The teachers loved seeing students sharing their enthusiasm and persuasive skills throughout this task!

In Maths, we have continued learning about sharing with a focus on making fair, equal groups. As one of the strategies we can use to help us solve sharing problems, we went on an array hunt around our houses and practised describing how many rows there were. For example, a carton of 12 eggs is shared into 2 rows of 6. Students built on their understanding of arrays by sharing items into arrays and writing number sentences to match. Some students challenged themselves with our open-ended optional task of sharing some muffins onto trays in as many different arrays as they could.

Students have enjoyed engaging with the tasks on the Weekly Choice Board on Seesaw and sharing their humour, energy and love of learning by completing activities that connect with Guided Inquiry, First Nations Perspectives, Science and Wellbeing. There are also additional Literacy and Numeracy activities and resources that many families have been able to utilise as part of their Remote Learning.

Thank you again to all families for their ongoing support and encouragement throughout Remote Learning both for students in their learning and wellbeing.

Have a great week!

Miss Glen, Mrs Gill, Miss Honan, Mr Jenkins, Mrs Seadon, Miss Tillotson and Miss Wang
