From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

A lot has happened for our community the last week as we transition from Lockdown 5.0 and remote learning.  As a school, we continue to be very mindful of students' wellbeing and note each time we “switch back” to onsite learning, there is an adjustment period where students and teachers recalibrate to learning and engaging face to face.  During this time, we as parents need to remember that this change process is fatiguing and emotionally draining, which can be unsettling for students (and parents!). Just being aware of this is an essential step that can then place us in a position to consider how to relieve some of the stress that might be building up.

Thank you to the school community for your support and understanding as we work through the current restrictions in place for schools.  All being well with COVID cases within the wider community, next week I expect there to be further advice to schools that will allow the return of the canteen, onsite trading of the uniform shop and the ability to drop students at the classroom door.  We continue to be hopeful as we can.

St Simon’s Parents’ Association - New Logo

As a school community, we are very blessed to have such a vibrant parents’ association supporting the school and the education of our students.  These past 18 months have been extremely challenging for the parents’ association to operate in the usual manner. Yet, despite this, they have continued to regularly meet with the focus of making the most of suitable fundraising and community building opportunities with the school community.

Recently the PA has received an updated logo that is more in line with the revised colour scheme for the school.  This logo will start to appear on communication material from the parents’ association.  The new logo looks fantastic and is the work of a previous St Simon’s student, Ciara Clarisse.

Staff News

Bianca Gilling recently announced that she and her husband Luke are expecting their first child..  Bianca will be taking leave in Term 4 from her PE and classroom teaching roles.

On behalf of the school community, I would like to congratulate Bianca and Luke on this exciting news and wish them all the best.

An announcement regarding Bianca’s replacement will be made in due course.

God bless
