NAIDOC Week Celebrations

NAIDOC Week Celebrations Continue in Art lessons

We continue to celebrate NAIDOC Week as students engage in many learning experiences across the curriculum to gain a better understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s history, culture and achievements. In art lessons, Bunjil The Eagle has been a focus.

Bunjil, the Eagle is a collaborative whole school artwork by students and staff of St Simon’s. Bunjil, which is often represented as an eagle, is the creator sprint for the Wurundjeri people. Bunjil created the people, animals and plants and he is watching how we respect the land.

A big thank you to Mrs Ivana Dabb for her creative ideas and endless hours putting together this beautiful piece of art. Bunjil, the Eagle now has pride of place in the school foyer as a collaborative whole school artwork by students and staff of St Simon’s.

Students will continue to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout this term as part of our Inquiry Based Learning units of work.
