Congratulations to the 2021 Class of Brevet des Collèges

The end of Semester 1 is always intense for the Year 9 French Binational students as they formally sit their Diplôme National du Brevet (DNB) as if they were in a school in France.  It is a great pleasure to report that all our candidates who braved the cold snap of the examination days passed with success!  With over ninety percent passing with a Mention (Distinction) and more than a third achieving marks over eighty percent claiming Mention Très Bien (High Distinction), the Binational teaching team is extremely proud of your work ethics and progress.

DNB is a diploma which concludes the middle school years (collège) in France and serves as a mark of achievement for students before they start their final years of secondary schooling towards French Bac (VCE or IB, in Victoria).  As half of the points are based on school-assessed coursework, the final formal examinations in French Literature, Maths, Science and Humanities are a big step to undertake.  In that sense, the ‘Brevet’ is a fantastic way to recognise and celebrate current achievement whilst giving our students a taste of what it is like to sit a formal examination.  Well done to our 2021 cohort for tackling this milestone and learning a lot about yourself in the process, and a huge thank you to the whole pedagogical team who contributed and supported the students along the way.  Parents, be reassured we are already working with your children towards the next step of their learning journey in French and beyond.
