Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

Welcome back to everyone for Term 3. I hope you have all had a great break

Our Maramba School Values

While we emphasise the importance of our school values everyday with our students and community, each term we have a specific focus on one school value. In Term 3 this year our focus is on RESPONSIBILITY.

When students are observed demonstrating this value that is above and beyond our general expectations of being responsible they receive a values sticker. This sticker goes into the student’s personal values record book. When they have filled all of the spaces for a school value they are presented with a values badge on assembly.

Responsibility: We recognise our actions and make a positive difference.

Our school values logo is representative of responsibility being constant and ongoing. We have an individual and collective responsibility for:

  • The environment
  • Ourselves – choices and actions
  • Others – family, friends and community

As a school, we want to encourage everyone to keep developing and growing, expanding our minds and our horizons.

We can show our responsibility and commitment through:

  • being excellent role models to others;
  • owning our choices and decisions;
  • accepting that we all have an important role to play as part of a community;
  • to speak out against inequality;
  • being prepared and ready to learn;
  • being life-long learners;
  • supporting the learning of our peers and the wider community;
  • taking care of belongings and school property;
  • offering additional support to enable all students to reach their potential.

NEW MUSIC AND PE TEACHER

I am very pleased to introduce two new fantastic teachers Yasmin Thompson and Lam Nguyen-Hoang to our school community.

Hi my name is Yasmin Thompson and I am thrilled to be the new PE teacher at Maramba Primary School! I am a bubbly and energetic individual who is a past Maramba Primary School student. I have a love and passion for all things Health and Physical Education in particular netball, tennis and AFL.

I am keen to build strong relationships with the Maramba Primary School community including students, parents and staff. I am looking forward to a busy and eventful Semester 2!

If you ever have any questions or would like to introduce yourself, then please feel free to come and visit me in the Andrew Groh Gym.

Hello, Maramba Primary School, my name is Mr Lam Nguyen and I’ll be your new music teacher for 2021! The values that drive my teaching practice is a love for and excellence in music education that is accessible to all. My passion for music started ever since I was in primary school. I performed in concerts and music festivals as a soloist, choir member, and jazz and rock ensembles, all throughout my schooling. After having moved to Melbourne in 2016, I performed with the MSO chorus, performed as a soloist across the state, and completed my music and teaching degrees.

My hobbies include singing everywhere I go, playing piano and learning new instruments. I also love playing with my dog Monty and am an avid gardener with a collection of over 100 indoor plants! While I am trained as a classical singer, I love to sing and continuously explore different styles of music.

I’m very excited to share my experience and knowledge in classical, choral and contemporary. I cannot wait to get to know our students, parents and colleagues and become part of the wider school community.

YEAR 5/6 CAMP AT THE SUMMIT

On Wednesday our very excited Year 5/6s left for their camp at The Summit. The activities will encourage them to learn more about themselves through different individual and collaborative challenges.

They arrived safely and set up their tents and then got straight into their fun and challenging activity rotations for the afternoon. Even though they got a little wet from the rain but that couldn’t dampen their spirits and they had an awesome time.

During the three day camp, they have 5 keys (values) to focus on:

1. Have fun.

2. Play all in.

3 Be comfortable being uncomfortable.

4. Make lots of mistakes.

5. Don't go home wondering what if.

A few first day comments from our 5/6s…

Avindee - Scavenger Hunt- We had a challenge to dip our faces in the lake. It was fun.

Lincoln - High Ropes- I liked free falling at the end of the course.

Nick - Tash's Ladder- I was pushing the limits because I climbed to the very top of the ladder.

Take care and stay safe!

Kind regards,

Darren Wallace
