At the culmination of our Japanese Year 8 Food Unit, some of our students created a ‘キャラベン’, a character bento, using a recipe written in Japanese. Mr. Scott and some of his VCAL students assisted two classes to create the ‘キャラベン’, demonstrating food tech skills to create the colourful and cute meals. In Japan ‘キャラベン’ are designed to entice children to eat healthy and balanced meals by catching the eye with their designs. Our thanks to Mr. Scott and his VCAL students for helping us make this cross-curricular activity possible.
