MAJOR EVENT UPDATE – PROM GONE WRONG

IS THE NIGHT GOING AHEAD?

The 14th August event needs to be rescheduled (again) due to restrictions and projected gathering limits. We are determined to have a fun and social event for our community though, and are hoping the third time’s a charm!!

DO WE HAVE A NEW DATE?

**YES!! SATURDAY 28th AUGUST**

Less than a month away, we have made a few changes to ensure we are COVID safe and compliant. Our apologies for the lack of communication, the team has been working really hard behind the scenes to ensure we provide accurate information. A terrific social night for our St Mary’s parents and carers is our priority, as well as raising funds for our school. So once again we ask you to show your support, get your tickets and get excited.

WHEN CAN I BUY TICKETS?

Available now! Limited numbers, get in quick for early bird pricing.

WHAT IF THAT DATE HAS TO CHANGE?

Never fear, we will issue an automatic refund for every ticket purchased. And then we’ll persist in finding another date… The Prom MUST go on!!

WHAT ABOUT DONATIONS?

Given the challenges many families have faced in the last two years, we are shifting the focus from fundraising to inclusive fun and community spirit.  We will try something NEW that gives back to our local community and supports those businesses who have done it tough during the lockdowns.

HOW WILL IT WORK?

Every class is invited to come together to purchase a voucher from a local business. Anyone who would like to be involved is asked to kindly donate a small amount of money… it may be $5, $10 or much more if you are in a position to do so. The monetary donations will be collected by your class rep, and then the total combined amount will be used to support our community by purchasing one voucher from a local business.

WHICH BUSINESSES WILL BENEFIT?

You choose! A local restaurant, accommodation venue, beautician, gym, hairdresser, retail store, …. your class can decide! You may even support a family in your class who owns a business. Your class rep/s will co-ordinate.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE VOUCHERS?

These vouchers of varying amounts will be used on the night of the event… in raffles, auctions and as prizes. You could be lucky enough to take one home!!!

WHAT IF I CAN’T AFFORD TO DONATE?

If you aren’t in a position to donate anything, that’s totally fine - we understand that it’s been a particularly tough time for many. No donations will be made public, just received with very grateful thanks.

WHY AREN’T WE DOING THE SAME AUCTIONS AS PREVIOUS YEARS?

We see this is an opportunity for the generous St Mary’s community to help the small businesses in our much loved neighbourhood. When we come together as a class, even the smallest donation can result in a significant contribution.

This new format also means we don’t have to ask for donations from business which may still be affected by lockdowns… however if anyone has the capacity to donate from their business, we would appreciate that too.

CAN I STILL DONATE OTHER ITEMS?

Yes!! Please do!! We would love to have a variety of goods and services up for grabs, it’s always a highlight of our major event night. Contact the organisers to arrange this.

HOW DOES ST MARY’S BENEFIT?

All proceeds from the major event (through ticket and bar sales, and raffling/auctioning of the vouchers) will directly contribute to the St Mary’s P&F fundraising fund for 2021, which in turn will benefit our children.

WHAT DO I DO NOW?

  1. Buy your ticket to the event! Get excited, and encourage your fellow school parents to come along!!
  2. Keep searching for your “prom gone wrong” costume, practice crimping your hair, and lock in your babysitter
  3. Wait for your class rep to contact you regarding donations for your class voucher
