Our Refurbishment

Building update

Yesterday, at our site visit, we got to see the progress that is continuing to happen behind the scenes. Last site meeting was held remotely given the lockdown across Victoria so it was very exciting to see what has happened since we were last on the building site.

Inside - classrooms are really making progress. Over a month ago we saw that  there was a level floor upstairs now and that makes access so much easier for everyone. Once the lift is put in there will be no stopping anyone!

Here are some photos of our visit to the building yesterday: new spaces are being created, line of sight is being improved and old spaces are being given a new look. Walls have disappeared, some have appeared, connection and access  between rooms.

Outside… children and staff are enjoying watching the progress outside. There is lots of discussion about the new spaces that are starting to take shape with the retaining wall, steps and ramp.

  • The new roof: we got to have a look ourselves at the work that is happening to replace significant sections of the roof.
  • There is a retaining wall that is being built and around that will be our ramp, stairs and seating area.

As we work with Stephanie from MACS, Stephen from Hayball Architects and the many staff from Haddarco Construction we are learning so much. Each meeting and interaction allows us to continue our passion for being lifelong learners as adults too.

With any refurbishment of an old building, there are often unforeseen hiccups and Covid adds to this with access to materials and sites. At this stage, it is looking like we will be able to move back into the refurbished rooms and spaces at some stage during Term 4. As more specific timelines and dates are locked in, we will update the school community. Everyone we work with knows how excited we all are to get into the new learning spaces and are doing their best to get this happening as soon as possible.
