2020 College Dux

We had the pleasure this week of acknowledging 2020 college Dux, Riley Frankel and Mr Whelan presented Riley with the Sr Patricia Rowe Award. Riley is currently at the University of Wollongong studying a Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation. He received an ATAR of 92.65.

From his arrival in 2015, through to his graduation in 2020, Riley consistently demonstrated that he was committed to learning; he respected the work of his teachers and fellow students and always persisted in order to achieve to the best of his ability. While he contributed to the whole life of the school - as a fierce 3rd speaker for debating and a member of the college band, acting as Vice Captain in 2020, it was in the academic life of the school where he made a considerable mark.

In an interrupted  Yr 12 year due to COVID and lockdowns, Riley achieved outstanding results in all his subjects - He was placed first in Mathematics Advanced, Modern History, Chemistry and Physics, was second in  Advanced English and  Mathematics Extension 1 and third in his remaining subject Studies of Religion.

In his very honest address to the assembly, Riley stressed the importance of consistent effort and of having an approach to study where outside interests and time for friends and family balance the work of study.

The McCarthy community congratulates Riley on his achievement and wishes him every success in the future
