Yr 3P Update

Over the last couple of weeks, the Year 3 students have been working hard on creating advertising posters. They have used the skills they learnt in our persuasive unit to support them in making the most convincing posters possible. The persuasive devices they needed to include were emotive language, modal verbs, involving the reader, rhetorical questions, repetition, adjectives, adverbs and alliterations.

The first poster the students worked on was creating a mini billboard that encouraged St. Finbar’s students to sign up for the School Colour Run. They used persuasive devices to show students how much fun this event will be and how our school will benefit from the money raised.

The second poster, which students have been working on this week, is about creating their own food product that will appeal to children in Australia. We looked at examples of how companies might use bright colours, catchy slogans and mascots to draw the attention of the public. Students have been influenced by popular drinks on the current market, take away foods they love to order and special treats they buy themselves at the shops. The students have worked hard and had a wonderful time using their imagination.

We wish everyone a lovely Easter and hope you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday with your family.
