Holiday Reading

Are you travelling during the holidays?  Rather than carrying a book around, why not try an eBook?  Or try an audiobook as an alternative to listening to music?

ePlatform is a fantastic resource with over 1000 eBook and 600 Audiobook titles on offer, with Childrens, Young Adult and Adult titles.  Loans are for two weeks and return automatically, so no risk of overdues or lost books!  Plus if you finish a book you can borrow another one straight away.

ePlatform can be accessed from the ‘eBooks’ button on the library homepage:

Compass > ‘Star’ > Resource Centre > eBooks

Just sign in with your Compass username and password.

An even easier way to access ePlatform is to download the ePlaform App on any Smart device.  Watch this video to see how easy it is:

Downloading Audiobooks can use a lot of data, but with the ePlatform App you can preload books so you can listen data free when you’re out and about.  This video shows you how:

Book Week 2019

Reading is my Secret Power’ was this year’s theme for Book Week, and the JRC celebrated with a ‘The Incredibles’ display and competition that challenged entrants to reveal the hidden identity of some special teachers with one thing in common – ‘Reading is their secret power’.

Congratulations to our winners, Ella, Jasmine, Katie and Rita, whose group effort led to the grand unmasking, and Sam, who was awarded the runner-up prize.

We again ran our now legendary lunchtime Book Week raffles, which continued to attract a large and enthusiastic crowd to the JRC.

Library Loans

Just a reminder that library loans are for two weeks only and students are expected to renew or return their books after this time.  Whilst we don’t charge overdue fines, if your book is long overdue you will need to pay for a replacement.  Students now receive reminder emails two days prior (Reminder Notice), three days and 14 days overdue, which should make keeping up to date easier.  After this point parents will be contacted.
