Peninsula Chess Tournament

Schools from around the south-east region assembled at Mornington Secondary College to compete in the prestigious annual Peninsula Chess Tournament. Hundreds of matches were played over the course of five hours.

‘It was a day filled with fun and excitement as the schools we went against were very diverse and skilled. There were students from primary school all the way to VCE. The broad range made the competitions very interesting.’ Subi Pandey, Year 8

In the end, Frankston High School students had accumulated the most points and were awarded first prize! Congratulations to our captains James Campbell and Noah Sauvola and to every member of the chess team for the incredible progress they continue to make from one tournament to the next.

Middle School Soccer

The boys made it all the way State beating some very tough opponents. Last Wednesday 4 September at Darebin International Sports Centre, the boys played exceptionally well and represented Frankston High School unbelievably displaying the school motto of Optima Semper.  Unfortunately they missed competing in the State Finals.  Only two points separated them and Notre Dame College who they drew against in their first match.

They finished the day undefeated drawing 2-2 against their first rivals (Notre Dame College) winning 2-0 against their second (Lavalla Catholic College) and showed great respect to their finial opponents (Trinity College) who they defeated 8-1.

A representative of the Football Federation of Victoria (FFV) explained how impressed he was, not just by the level of football skill and passion shown by the Frankston High School students but also, the kindness and respect they showed not only to their opponents but also the referees and all staff involved in running the day.  Great work team!
