Around Our School

Nesting Boxes
The team at Hands On Learning have been constructing nesting boxes for Parks Victoria. These nesting boxes are for Possums, Gliders, Kookaburras and Microbats. Both the Tuesday and Wednesday groups constructed over 10 of these boxes. They will provide much needed shelter for animals around our local parks and gardens. Well done to the students of Hands On Learning for showing such skill, dedication and enthusiasm to get this project completed and to the rangers in time for spring.
Year 12 Victorian Titration Competition
This year’s titration competition involved five teams from Frankston High School competing against 322 teams from all over Victoria, in an Acid Base titration. Teams had to then calculate unknown concentration of Sodium Hydroxide and Ethanoic Acid. Teams were ranked on how accurate and precise their titrations and calculations were. Our top ranked team was 67th place and was formed by Lan Li, Ankita Thakur and Nicole Smith.
The other teams all did well and the participants were from both the Year 12 Chemistry classes: Runwei Li, Liam Wilkinson, Ilya Glinin, Melanie Tiong, Farah Nur Shareena, Clara Unson, Ellie Morton, Sarah Fuji, Jesse Hema, Lianiva Siafitu, Benitta Binoji and Liya Jose
All the students enjoyed the competition and according to competitor Runwei Li “It was a fun and exciting experience”
Thanks to Marta Szczykutowicz for her help and preparation of the chemicals.
