Senior School News

Congratulations Boler Mani (Year 12)
Boler was invited to perform on 3 and 3 September at the Bigsound Festival in Brisbane – the biggest music industry event in Australia where he played 30 minute hip-hop sets, over two nights. On the second day he had organized meetings with publicists, labels, managers, some of Australia’s biggest artists and Triple J’s presenters Dave Ruby Howe and Claire Mooney. This was an incredible opportunity to prove his abilities to the industry’s leading professionals and Boler did not disappoint, having many describe his performance as “the best set they’ve seen” compared to the other 149 artists who played across 18 venues. Many publicists were extremely keen to sign a contract on the basis of his “multi-talented abilities of which most other artists do not possess”. Boler writes, produces and records all of his music in his bedroom, completely self-taught and self-made. He wishes to continue pursuing his music career after high school whilst attending university.
State Constitutional Convention
Congratulations to Louis Robson, Anastasia Parkhomenko, Michaela Goggin, Keelia Ebanks, Perri Hobbs and Matisse Knight who attended the State Constitutional Convention and represented Frankston High School on Tuesday 3 September. Louis and Keelia presented the opening speech for the school. This program enables students to participate in a series of conventions through state parliamentary programs that support the professional learning of civics and citizenship and legal studies in the Victorian curriculum. It provides students with the opportunity to discuss contemporary social and legal issues, especially those relating to the Australian Constitution. Congratulations to all students.
Performance And Oral Examinations
Students in studies with a performance or oral component have been given a timetable for these examinations. Any student who has not received a timetable should see Mr Simon Cameron immediately. The examination period begins on Monday 7 October and ends on Sunday 3 November. Students should arrive at their examination half an hour before the scheduled start time and must have photo identification with them. Good luck to all students involved.
Year 12 Exams – September Holidays
A reminder to parents and students that Year 12 exams will take place during these school holidays. Attendance is compulsory and each Year 12 study will have an exam. The examinations commence on Thursday 26 September and conclude on Friday 4 October. This is an invaluable initiative to provide feedback to students on their examination performance and devise strategies for improvement in preparation for the official VCAA Year 12 examination period.

I wish all students and parents a relaxing holiday break. It is important that Year 12 students use these two weeks to revise thoroughly for their upcoming examinations. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Senior School teachers who have made themselves available to hold revision lectures during these holidays and to mark and provide feedback to Year 12 students on their exams.
