Respectful Relationships Program

We have signed up to the Respectful Relationships Program which originated from a State Government commitment to tackle domestic violence and violence against women and children, but will have added benefits to addressing other sorts of prejudice.

Addressing the issue in schools is a proactive strategy and the program has been rolled out across Australia. The program covers an analysis of current practices at the school and the gaps that exist, and then development of processes to address those gaps. As we work through the program, we will keep our College community informed because there will be aspects that families and students will need to be involved in.

College Behaviour

On the subject of appropriate relationships, we have dealt with some behaviours recently involving restricting airways, either students doing it to themselves or students doing it to other students. Clearly this activity is dangerous and highly inappropriate and students can expect the College to sanction and educate as necessary. All students were spoken to this week about the damage and legal ramifications of these behaviours and families are asked to reinforce this with their child.

Gate to Plate

Congratulations to the Harvey Beef Gate to Plate students who competed last week at the school’s challenge. The organisers contacted the College to commend our students’ behaviour, attitude and effort.

Interim Reports

Families should have received their interim reports this week and I am hopeful that as many as possible take the time to arrange interviews with staff. It is really important that a three-way conversation is had between parents/carers, staff and the student.

College Dinner

My thanks in advance to the front office ladies and kitchen staff who have organised the Student Dinner next Wednesday. We look forward to a lovely evening to end a busy term.
