Year 10 News

YEAR 10 ATHLETICS DAY

In a display of sportsmanship and school spirit, the Year 10 boys competed in the Under 16s Javelin event at the Athletics Carnival, encouraging and supporting their fellow peers along the way.

The boys demonstrated the school values of resilience, respect and teamwork as they took on the challenge of the Javelin event, showcasing their athletic ability and determination to succeed.

Not only did they impress with their athletic prowess, but the Year 10 boys also stood out for their positive attitudes and support for their peers. Their encouragement and sportsmanship were truly remarkable, embodying the values that Doncaster Secondary College strives to instill in all its students.

The school congratulates these boys for their outstanding efforts and for representing the school with such grace and spirit. We are proud of their achievements and the positive impact they have had on their peers and the school community.

WELL DONE VLAD

Congratulations to Vlad on qualifying for the National Weightlifting Championship to be held in Perth on November the 3rd. To qualify, Vlad had to compete in a variety of competitions in multiple locations.

Vlad has had to be motivated and organised to achieve his goal to compete in the National Weightlifting Championship. Vlad’s schedule is to train 6 days a week for 2 -3 hours each day. Vlad works with a personal trainer twice a week and then trains independently 3-4 times a week. In addition to this Vlad has had to learn about diet and must maintain a high protein, low sugar diet.

Vlad we can’t wait to hear how you go in November. Keep training hard.

WELL DONE BRODIE

Congratulations to Brodie I. who had his debut for Oakleigh Chargers. Brodie has endured a six-month tryout to make the team. Having to wait every couple of weeks to see if he would make it to the next round.

The Oakleigh Chargers is an Australian rules football club playing in the NAB League, the top state-wide under-16 competition in Victoria. Many AFL superstars have been recruited from the Chargers.

We will be watching you keenly, Brodie, over the coming years!

WORK EXPERIENCE

Work is well underway for our Year 10 cohort to commence work experience during the last week of term 2. We are excited to see many students looking for unique and individual experiences that will help them decide if this is the career direction that they would like to pursue.

Some of the experiences that students have organised are; the La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary; Eye and Ear Hospital; Science Laboratory; Mechanics; Hairdressers; and Primary Schools.

If students are needing help in finding a placement, please contact Donna McKinlay in the Careers department to make an appointment. You can also pop into the Senior Centre during recess, lunchtime, or during Discovery and see Jeanine.
