Junior School

Congratulations to all Year 7 and Year 8 students for a successful first term!

Students are to be commended for their positive transition into 2023 and for their efforts and achievements throughout the term.

Thank you to the students for their outstanding commitment to learning. Teachers are singing praises of our Junior School students who have shown respect, a readiness to learn, and have developed strong connections as a cohort. There is a big sense of pride, teaching a group of students who are interested in learning, showing kindness toward others and making Junior School a great place to be. Thank you to each individual student for making this happen.

To our Year 7 students, well done for completing their first term in High School! From the start of the term, there was a positive energy from our Year 7 students who have adapted so well into our DSC routines. You are all experts now at using a combination lock! As the term progressed, we saw our students embrace many opportunities from attending the Year 7 BBQ, the Year 7 Camp, the Junior School Everyone Belongs Breakfast, completing NAPLAN and PAT, all the way to sprinting past the finish line at DSC Athletics Days.

It was wonderful to see so many of our Year 8 students getting involved at the Athletics Day. The 100m sprint was a popular event with so many participants giving it their absolute best.  We certainly have some fast runners in our Year 8 cohort. It was lovely to see students getting involved in the Junior School Harmony Week Breakfast and setting a great example for the Year 7 students to follow.

Thank you to the families for your guidance and support at home. We know that the successes of our cohort come from the values that our families instill at home. Over Term 2, we look forward to continuing our partnerships with families.

We want to wish all the students and families a wonderful, adventurous, and safe term break. We look forward to making Term 2 another success.

Year 8 Ceramics

After weeks of researching, gathering inspiration, drawing, and hand-constructing, our Year 8 Ceramics class has completed their 'Dragons' project. Using slab and pinch pot hand-building techniques, students were assessed on their level of detail and their use of shading from the oxidation process.

Our Year 8 students have now moved on to their next assignment, 'Surprise Mugs': a pinch pot mug with a surprise sculpture at the bottom of each mug.
