Open Night 2023

The conditions were perfect for our College Open Night on Wednesday 22nd March. More than 170 families attended and enjoyed a student-led campus tour under clear, autumn sunset skies. The top comment of the evening from prospective parents was how beneficial it is to hear about life at Doncaster Secondary College through the eyes of our students.

We were extremely impressed by the student-led tour we undertook that was led by Harrison and Beau. Both students were friendly, confident and articulate and excellent representatives for the school, of which they spoke very highly.

Our Open Night success would not be possible without our incredible student and parent volunteers. We would like to thank:

  • the 48 students (including 10 alumni) leading the school tours;
  • the two Food Tech classes who baked cookies and filled our corridors with sweet aromas;
  • the 8 students who stayed back to serve cookies and smiles to our guests;
  • the energy and enthusiasm of our students who manned the information booths;
  • our student photographers for capturing the vibe of the evening so well;
  • our parent volunteers for cooking up a barbecue and chatting with our guests;
  • the 20+ instrumental music students who played songs until the sun set!

Students, you are our greatest ambassadors, and your contribution to our school community is admired and appreciated. Thank you for making our school such a wonderful place to learn.

The objective of this year's Open Night was to demonstrate the learning journey our students take as they progress from Junior school to Middle school and then to Senior school. Our teachers showcased the opportunities at each stage in a student's learning by setting up interactive activities and information booths. Not only did this bring the learning journey to life, but it engaged and built a sense of wonder with our younger guests.
