Student Wellbeing

Term one has been a full and action-packed term for the Wellbeing team, staff, and students with many programs, activities and events across the school keeping us busy and engaged.

Working across all levels of intervention, the team has provided individual case work, attended student support group meetings, completed assessments and referred students and families for in-school and external supports. Furthermore we have popped in to DISCovery classes at Junior School, MYLeader classes in Year 9 and Wednesday assemblies at Senior School to promote the range of supports and services we have on offer and talk to students about how where and why they might meeting with a member of the team.

We have again had a wide range of diverse programs and clubs running for students during lunchtimes, and seen increased attendance and engagement with these groups, including Hoops, KPop, Lego, Crafternoon, Chess, Anime, Jam Sessions, Rainbow Collective, Book Club and Games club.

There have also been a number of targeted group programs run for students across Years 8, 9 and 10 with students engaging in Drumbeat workshops, Inner Peas cooking group, the Re-Engagement program (for students with low attendance), Galada Kirrip (for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students) and the ASDiscovery group supporting (for neurodiverse students) and assisting the connections and skill development of students.

Our We’ve Got Your Back Program has been very busy with the start of the year and many students and families both seeking and donating resources and school items to support our students with their educational needs, ensuring they are ready to learn.

Through the sub-schools, library and breakfast programs we have also ensured that our students are well-fuelled for their day of learning, providing breakfasts, lunches and snacks, and consider it an achievement that they have munched and crunched their way through over 650 kg of fresh fruit in this term alone!
