Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to the start of Term 2, I hope you have had the opportunity as a family to stop and pause while creating wonderful memories together.

We have now experienced three weeks since Jesus rose on Easter Sunday. At Mass we heard the story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus reflecting on what they had experienced with the death of Jesus and the story of his resurrection. They were retelling this story to a stranger, not realising until the breaking of the bread that this stranger was indeed Jesus in their midst. This ritual helped them join the dots to the memory of what Jesus had been telling them that he was the Truth and the Light.

The rituals of the ANZAC Day commemoration help us to remember with gratitude those that made the ultimate sacrifice of serving our country and those that returned home often changed by what they had experienced in the name of peace.  We will mark this solemn occasion in our Nations history at Friday's Assembly starting at 1:45 pm.

Some of the rituals associated with ANZAC day that help maintain our memory include laying a wreath out of respect for the fallen, the ANZAC Day march to express our thanks and gratitude, The playing of the Last Post, a period of silence  and reciting the ode.

                                                                  Lest we Forget.

For all things at St Joseph’s, give thanks!

What are you grateful for this week?

How does my child receive a Principal's Award?

Class teachers nominate students for Blue Merit Awards and are presented at the weekly assembly.  When five Blue Merit Awards have been received, students send them to the school office to be recorded and are then eligible for a Principal’s Award. When students attain their 4th Principal Award, they are awarded a Principal’s Medallion at an assembly. End of Term awards can be included as part of the 5 awards.
