Anzac Day Poem

A Day to remember those who lost their lives in war

From their families they were torn

Lost their lives and cut ties

The old clothes they once wore

Are of no more

The poppy fields they stood in

The parents that lost their kin

Boats that were sent away

And the lives on board that were slayed

The people’s lives that we commemorate

Those who became separate

On Anzac Day

We commemorate the lives ended in grey

On Anzac Day we pay respects to the lives lost

The lives in the nation that were cost

Poppies a budding hope

Just above a slope

The eyes that gazed on this field
