ANCIENT CIVILISATIONS COME ALIVE IN YEAR 7 HUMANITIES

Ancient civilisations have been the 'toast' of Year 7 Humanities and, indeed, Year 7 History in Term 4 at Sacred Heart College.

Year 7 students recently took the opportunity to research an aspect of an ancient civilisation, reference three digital or textual sources using APA 7th Edition and recreate an ancient artefact in the process or present a diorama or museum display.

From the online and anecdotal feedback provided by students, this task was very engaging and popular. Displays of the students’ artefacts or museum pieces from the Ancient civilisations of Greece, Egypt or China were facilitated by Mrs Simone Stephen and her wonderful team (pictured below) in the Library.

Mrs Stephen and her team were also kind enough to determine the People’s Choice Award winners, with the students listed below receiving an Events Cinemas ticket voucher.

  • Xavier Hermann (Trinity) – Ancient Sparta battle helmet
  • Meagan Requilme (O’Reilly)  – Ancient Chinese painting
  • Sam Ryan (O’Reilly) – Ancient Egyptian pyramid of Giza

Who said History wasn’t fun?

Have a joyous Christmas and a happy New Year.

Yours in humanity and the environment.
