2022 CREATIVE WRITING ANTHOLOGY - WRITING FROM THE HEART
The English department held its competition for creative writing again this year. We accepted entries for in-class work and pieces created outside the classroom. Selected entries have been compiled into our annual creative work anthology - Writing From the Heart.
We are pleased to announce the runner-up and winner for each year group.
YEAR 7
- Winner - Ava Prunster (Normandy) for her sonnet: Lucky Bay
- Runner-up - James Ryan (Kimberley) for his poem: An Ode to Milo
YEAR 8
- Winner: Imogen Warren (Normandy) for her short story narrative: The Jarrah Tree
- Runner-up: Neave Norman (Hannan) for her poem: Textbook Monotony
YEAR 9
- Winner: Chloe Brennan (Thu Duc) for her post-apocalyptic narrative: In Search of Hope
- Runner-up: Eliza Caputi (Kimberley) for her fractured fairytale narrative: Crosses are Ladders that lead to Heaven
YEAR 10
- Winner: Cosimo Trichilo (Thu Duc) for his speculative fiction narrative: Quiz_of_a_Lifetime.exe
- Runner-up: Juliette Hampson (Barlow) for her feature article: Why Food Waste is our Dumbest Problem Yet
YEAR 11
- Winner: Stefan Elloy (O'Reilly) for his short story narrative: Two Deaths and a Birth (This was completed under exam conditions for the following prompt: Question 12 “Everything is changed, changed utterly.” Compose a piece of writing that imagined a context for these words.)
- Runner-up: Kayah Swiatopelk-Mirski-Smith (Trinity) for her persuasive speech (transcript): If Only People had the Courage
These winners were just some of the many wonderful entries from each year group. We highly recommend that you take some time to read the online anthology during the holidays - there are so many great worlds in which to be immersed. The anthology also features a number of pieces from Visual Arts.
