Getting to know our Teams

This week we are getting to know Learning Community 1.

Mrs Jane Guy is our Prep Teacher

She lives in Drouin South and has been a teacher at our school for 22 years. She hopes that this year she gets to work closely with the parents, grandparents and carers of her beautiful Prep cherubs to have a very successful, fun filled year.

Mrs Kelly Smith is one of our Grade 1/2 Teachers

She lives in Bunyip and has been a teacher at our school for 22 years. Her hopes for this year are for everyone to develop a love for learning just as much as she does, and for us all to be happy and healthy.

Miss Kate Stoll is one of our Grade 1/2 Teacher

She lives in Rokby and has been a teacher at our school for 2 weeks. Her hopes for this year are to learn and grow and create strong relationships with students and my team.

Ms Liz Whal is an Aide in the 1/2 area

She lives in Pakenham and has been an aide at our school for 11 Years. Her hopes for this year are that everyone has fun in their learning and that everyone has an amazing year.

Miss Brooke Jansz is an Aide in Grade Prep

She lives in Longwarry and has been an aide at our school for 6 Months. She hopes this year to gain as much experience and knowledge out of her role.

Prep Guy

Last week in our room we began learning all about school. Students learnt the routines for the school days, how to be good friends, where everything is and how to be resilient racoons, responsible rhinos and respectful rabbits. This week we continued learning school routines, getting to know each other and enjoying school. Please remember to listen to your child read every afternoon/ night and sign their diary so their reading nights can be totalled every week for our reading awards.

Prep Guy's Student Of The Week

Well done to all Prep students for settling into school so well. I am very proud of everyone for learning to be resilient racoons, responsible rhinos and respectful rabbits.

Mrs Jane Guy, Miss Brooke Jansz.

Grade 1/2 Smith & Stoll

Welcome back to all our families for another fun and exciting year of school, a special welcome to our new families to the Bunyip PS community.

We have loved getting to know our new grades in these first couple of weeks and have done activities to find out all about each other. We have talked about being a good friend, a good learner and different ways to show kindness to others.

This week in Reading we have been building our classroom library with fiction books that we will explore throughout the term. We also borrowed some books for our personal book boxes that we can read after Reading Circles or can take home to share with our families. We have started Reading Circles every morning at 9.00am and welcome any parent helpers that would like to come and listen to students reading but please make sure that the Office has received a copy of your Working with Children Check in order to help in the classroom.

We have been writing about events that have happened to us and we have been learning to add describing words to our writing. We have also been learning to spell some commonly used words and have explored words that have an 'a' like in ant sound.

In Maths we have begun exploring counting and numbers to 100.

Please remember to sign each night that you read with your child so that we can add up their nights read at home. A signature on each day read will let us know that your child read that night. It could be to an adult, to a pet or to a teddy. At this age it is important for children to practice reading aloud.

We can't wait to learn together with our wonderful grades and families.

Mrs Kelly Smith, Miss Kate Stoll, Ms Liz Wahl.
