Concert

What a magnificent show.

It was wonderful to have a full auditorium, excited and vibrant kids on stage and seeing teachers pride and satisfaction at a job well done. We missed this over the last 2 years.

Once again can I say a huge thank you to:

Sue Ward - Concert Director & Script Writer

Elise Pratt - Music Director & Conductor

Carla Wyllie - Stage Manager & Choreographer

These three drove all aspects of the show, with outstanding support from all the staff in so many different ways - a wonderful example of team work.

We hope that the everyone enjoyed the presentation.

Farewell Deva Gordon

A week or so ago the staff bid farewell to Deva Gordon, who has been our Language teacher at Jells Park PS for over 20 years (1997-2021) Deva was known as a kind, caring and compassionate teacher, who always had the best interests of the students at heart.

Jells Park PS thank her for her enormous contribution to the culture and programs in this school. She was ever reliable and competent as a teacher, loved and respected by her peers.

Enjoy retirement with your boys and grand children Deva.

Looking to 2023

Curriculum

We will be introducing a new Spelling Program called Sound Waves, that we have researched and believe will help us improve student performance in the areas. Our other curriculum focus is improving Maths Fluency in all students - this is auto recall and quick maths thinking.

Events

2023 will be a Wakkakiri year, which is really exciting. Miss Ward and Mrs Wyllie have a few great ideas brewing already.

We will also be moving our  Swimming Program to Caulfield Grammar pool. This is a trial arrangement to see if we can make it work - we are hoping to save money by having no buses and save time by being able to walk to the pool.

Buildings & Grounds

Shade Sails should go up over the holidays, we will be looking at concrete paths and retaining walls. Our next big project is finding the resources to artificially turf the basketball court and surrounds.

Thank you and Happy Holidays

Wishing everyone a wonderful break over the school holidays, stay safe and enjoy the Christmas festivities. Thanks to the school community for their support and we look forward to a great year in 2023.

Disability Inclusion

On Saturday 3rd December 2022, people around the world celebrated International Day of People with Disability. We have several students at JPPS with a disability and I am always warmed by the inclusive nature of our students and I am proud of the way our school ensures all students have equal access to learning. This was particularly evident this week during our whole school concerts. I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the contribution people with a disability make to our community and think about the ways we can continue to break down barriers for people with disabilities.

Christmas

On 25th December, Christmas is celebrated around the world and is a scared religious holiday for many people. Christmas was traditionally a Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus, however Christmas is now celebrated widely by Christians and non Christians, an exciting day for many children where Santa Claus arrives and leave presents under the Christmas tree. I know that many members of our community are looking forward to celebrating Christmas with family and friends and I wish everyone the very

best for this special time.

Holidays

With only a week and 2 days of the 2022 school year remaining, I would like to finish by extending my very best to all our students, staff and community for a wonderful holiday season. It's been a very busy year and everyone is deserving of some time to relax, rest and reset ready for an exciting 2023.
