From the Deputy

  Mr Anthony Speranza

Dear families,

A warm welcome back to 2023, and I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer. It was wonderful to see the students back this week with great enthusiasm and happiness to start the year, and we have all had a terrific week.

Reminder, arrival times and settling into classrooms for learning.

Morning drop off commences from 8:30am, with supervision and gates opening at 8:40am. Classroom doors open at 8:45am to participate in morning prayer and to prepare for learning. Our learning commences at 9:00am, and it’s very important that students have arrived prior to this time so that they have had the opportunity to settle in. Of course, there are times when running late is inevitable and we would never penalise a student for this. This week we have noticed a great improvement with students arriving on time, so we would very much like everyone to keep this up!

TheirCare is available to any parents requiring morning care.

Ban on single-use plastic items from 1 February 2023

From 1 February 2023, Victorian businesses and organisations (including schools) will not be able to supply single-use plastic. From time to time, students request from the office a plastic utensil to eat items from their lunch boxes. In line with the plastic item ban, the school will no longer supply utensils to students. Kindly we ask that if children bring yoghurts, soups, noodles, pastas, etc. that require utensils, that they are packed in the lunch box and taken to and from school.

Seesaw app

Our Seesaw app is up and running again for 2023. Essential communication is delivered via this platform, as well as timely updates about your child’s learning from the classroom. It is highly recommended that parents turn on notifications from their account settings. If you require connection to this service or need to connect a second parent or carer, please contact myself or Daniela Borgese as eLearning Leader

Devices

Laptops from Years 3 to 6 will be taken home this Friday. A reminder that the laptop must always be transported to and from school in a case inside the school bag. We look forward to continuing the student induction into this program next week.

Soccer Club

As it is my favourite sport, it is with great pleasure we invite interested students to a morning soccer club on the main campus at 8:00am each Wednesday. I will be running the soccer club for the first term, however I am keen for some parents to take over after Easter. If you are interested please let me know.

The club is open to all year levels and abilities.
