English News

Welcome

The English faculty would like to welcome everyone back to 2023. We extend a special welcome to Year 7 and their parents and carers.

I would like to remind everyone about the processes in the English faculty.

Negative behaviours

  • If homework is set, it must be completed by the due date. Failure to submit homework/assessments will result in a detention.
  • Repeated poor behaviours in class will also result in a detention
  • Detentions are held in NR1007 on Mondays and Wednesdays at Lunch 1
  • Failure to attend detention on two (2) occasions will result in a Level 1 placement
  • A Letter of Concern will be sent home if your student does not submit assessment (including drafts) on the due date - N Warning in Senior

Positive behaviours

  • Students will be awarded PBL points for positive behaviour in class
  • Once a month, positive emails will be sent home to a selection of students who are working particularly well in class
  • Individual English classes may have extra reward activities/motivators

Communication

Please feel free to call or email the school if you have any concerns or issues. Your students have their individual teacher emails or you can email the Head Teacher [HT] of English: danielle.deredder@det.nsw.edu.au

You may receive calls or emails home from time to time to follow up on any teacher concerns. These are done to help parents and carers support their students through difficulties they may be experiencing in English.

Your student has been issued a movie permission note for English. Please return this signed ASAP. Students will not be permitted to view films in English if this is not returned.

In Summary

If you are worried about anything, please contact me. Communication is vital to support your student in their progress in English. If we are unaware of issues, we cannot differentiate appropriately for your child. Once again, welcome back. We look forward to an exciting and productive year in English.
