National Aboriginal Children’s Day
National Aboriginal Children’s Day
To commemorate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day a special Mass has been organised next Wednesday, August 4th at 11am.
More information will follow and a link will be sent for those who are interested to view.
The Theme for this National Day of recognition for Aboriginal Children is;
“Proud In Culture – Strong In Spirit”
Children’s Day is a time Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities and all Australians, celebrate the strengths and culture of our children. It is an opportunity for us to show our support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, as well as learn about the crucial impact that culture, family and community play in the life of every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child.
Children’s Day has been run annually since 1988 and is the initiative of SNAICC – National Voice for our Children.
At St. Brendan’s next week, teachers will share story with the students and follow it up with an Indigenous craft activity. The FIRE Carrier team will visit classrooms next Wednesday to promote this special day and encourage our students to be proud of the Indigenous culture and strong in spirit of our beautiful country!
