Year 7 Zoo Excursion

On Wednesday 14/07/2021, 70 of our Year 7 students went on a Science excursion to Melbourne Zoo. Students attended a session on Classification and Adaptation, listened to Keeper Talks and participated in an Amazing Race Team Challenge. It was a great day and everyone had loads of fun!

“I really enjoyed going to the zoo as it was a fun way of learning classification. At the same time, we got to talk to our friends and see all the amazing animals at the zoo. Overall, it was a super fun day and I would love to do it again!” -  Caitlyn G, 7A

“What I liked about the Zoo is that we got to experience what the animals do in their every day life.”  (Russell L-G, 7D )

“While I was at the zoo, I learnt stuff like how to tell if an animal is a carnivore or herbivore. What I liked about the zoo was seeing all the animals and those little guys from Lion King.” (Jordan T, 7D)

“I like having the opportunity to go to the Zoo because I am really interested in animals and why they behave the way they do. My opinion on the excursion is that it was interesting learning about many animals, looking at what their bones look like and how they behave and how they are 'built'.” (Thomas T, 7D)

“ The students were excited to be given actual bones from animals such as a lion. They then had to decide what adaptations the animal had that enabled it to survive, which really got their thinking going.  My group loved the butterflies and orang-utans, and ran like crazy to find the clues for the Amazing Race. Thanks, Mrs. Maheswaran, for organising and thanks to the 7D students who made it a great day.” – Mrs. Kinchington

“Our excursion to the Zoo was truly an awesome day! It was especially great to see students enjoy themselves and experience a school excursion. The zoo staff were fantastic and provided great information and hands-on activities for the kids. We loved walking around and seeing the animals.” – Mrs. D’Souza

“It was a great day at the Zoo. We all had so much fun and learnt many new things. It was great to see students enjoy themselves. We were all thrilled to see the animals. A big thank you to all students and staff for making this day very special.” – Mrs. Maheswaran
