Term 3 events rescheduled

Program Changes

Well, we didn't think we would be here again, but here we are, scrambling to make plans in an ever changing COVID environment.  Our aim is to try and keep as many things going as possible but this is going to make for a very busy term 4.  At this stage as we know it is hard to plan long term but we aim to keep our community in the loop as much as possible.

Athletics

We have had some feedback from students and parents about rescheduling the athletics carnival.  Unfortunately with all the other events that are going to be shuffled back in to term 4 we will not be running this event.  At this stage we have no indication of whether the district athletics will be able to go ahead.

GAT:  The GAT will now take place on Thursday September 9 from 10:00am-1:15pm.  All students taking a Unit 3/4 sequence are expected to sit the GAT.

Winter Ball:  This was scheduled for August 18 and of course had to be cancelled.  We have spoken with our venue who are able to offer Wednesday November 3rd subject to restrictions.  This is the day after Cup day, we will see what we can do about finishing at lunchtime to allow students time to get ready, however those students doing VET will need to negotiate with their VET providers.

City Experience:  Year 9 students were supposed to be heading off into the city this week for their City Experience.  Ms Timms and her team have worked really quickly to reschedule and rebook for this event and it is planned to go ahead in week 4 of next term (October 25-29).

City Stay:  We have already rescheduled this event once and unfortunately will not be able to make it happen this year.  The City Stay camp is incredibly complex and requires to coordination of at least 30 individual bookings over a two day period, we will not have the time to organise this again for term 4.

Work Experience:  At this stage work experience is being postponed until the last week of this term subject to restrictions at the time.

Cairns:  We are hoping against hope that the situation eases and the Cairns trip can go ahead as planned at the end of the term and will have more information out to those students and parents as soon as we know.

Production:  Mr Lewis is in negotiation to get the rights to the show extended until the  end of the year.  This would allow us to run a slightly shorter production season from Wednesday December 1 to Saturday December 4.

Cancelled Event Payments:  Should a paid for event be cancelled or a student cannot attend an event due to the changed date monies  will be credited to the family account and can be use against other school based programs.  Any individual questions or inquiries please contact Peter Cameron (Business Manager) in the General Office.
