Principal Report

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to term 3 AGAIN. Thank-you for your support of your children during Remote Learning 5.0. We all know the efforts staff and parents need to put in to ensure the children’s learning continues as seamlessly as possible and I truly believe that the team effort approach at our school has ensured that the children were able to easily slip into remote learning as required. Thank-you EVERYONE – parents, carers, teachers and Education Support staff, including our Admin staff who were on-site for most of the time.

Also, I would like to include Mrs Kathy Cvitkovic in my thanks as she effortlessly and brilliantly led the school in my absence over the past week as I recovered from minor oral surgery. Kathy is a great leader, whose expertise as an educational leader has been paramount in our achievements of a school. I feel very confident knowing she will make the best decision in all situations and truly feel grateful that I can step aside at any time and know the school is in good hands.

Return to Onsite Learning: As you would be aware, schools have returned to on-site learning but there continues to be a need to limit the number of adults in the school grounds AT ALL TIMES. This is in response to the directives we need to follow to ensure Victoria can get back to ‘normal’ as quickly as possible and ensure EVERYONE in our community is safe from Covid. This includes not allowing adults to enter the buildings and corridors. We are trying to avoid the use of QR Codes at start and end of day, so need you to PLEASE follow social distancing guidelines AT ALL TIMES. Please see the arrangements we have put in place, which were presented in our social media outlets yesterday

  • All gates will be open, including the one near the portables, to allow for multiple points of entry and social distancing. Please let you child/ren know where you will meet them at the end of the day. Encouraging them to meet you at the Melton Waves Carpark is an excellent way to manage social distancing
  • MORNING: Gates will be opened at 8.45am, with children expected to move in an orderly manner to their classrooms, therefore parents should not really need to enter the school grounds before school. Please consider saying goodbye to your child at the gate
  • Breakfast Club OPEN – 8:15am PLEASE NOTE students need to arrive BY 8:30am.
Students will not be admitted after 8:30am to Breakfast Club.
  • AFTERNOON: Gates will open at 3.00pm, to limit the number of parents and carers on-site. Please let your child know which gate you will be waiting for them, only enter if ABSOLUTELY necessary and leave as soon as you meet your child. Please avoid spending time socialising whilst we gently move from Lockdown 5.0 to a new normal

Parent Teacher Interviews TODAY: The Student Semester 1 reports were posted on Class Dojo during the lockdown and a hardcopy was sent home with the children yesterday. Today we are holding Parent/Teacher interviews via phone/WebEx. Please call the office if you have not made an appointment with your child’s teacher and would like to talk to them about your child’s progress and they will try to facilitate it

Prep 2022 School Tours: Unfortunately, due to the ongoing restrictions, we cannot re-commence on-site school tours for prospective parents. If you have a pre-school aged child, due to start school next year, please call in at the office to collect an enrolment pack. If you know a friend or family member that would like to enrol their child at our school, please direct them to our website to see a virtual tour and ask them to collect an enrolment pack from the office. Please be re-assured that this year’s Prep students settled very well into school life even after a disrupted 2020, so I am sure next year’s cohort will do just as well. We will hold an open night for any parents who have enrolled their child if and when restrictions lift and it is deemed safe to have a large number of parents on-site.

School Policies: We have a number of school policies available on our school website and encourage you to keep up to date with this important information. Each newsletter I aim to bring our school community’s attention to them to keep them active and alive. In this newsletter you will find copies of the: 1/ Anaphylaxis Policy; 2/ Asthma Policy and 3/ Duty of Care Policy. If you have any questions regarding any of these policies, or any other policy, please contact the office to make an appointment with a member of the Principal Class Team.
