We'd like you to get to know our Wellbeing Team better. First up, meet our wonderful Counsellors!

Who are we?

Bec Campey (rcampey@kws.nsw.edu.au) and Amy Newsom (anewsom@kws.nsw.edu.au) are registered psychologists with specific training and experience in child and adolescent mental health. They work across Junior and Senior School.

What do we do?

The School Psychologists

  • Help to optimise students’ potential and enhancing student wellbeing
  • Promote effective learning and positive physical and mental health[AN1]
  • Help students develop appropriate skills, attitudes and pro-social values and behaviours
  • Identify and help to resolve academic issues

The School Psychologists are available to work with students, staff and parents to address academic, socio-emotional and behavioural issues which impact on student wellbeing. Issues that impact on a student’s wellbeing, and which could be helped by speaking with the School Psychologist include:

  • Behaviour concerns
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Learning difficulties
  • Family problems
  • Grief and loss
  • Stress
  • Social skills
  • Concerns about eating or body image [AN2]

How to access us

CAPS is not a substitute for existing pastoral care support, it is rather an additional level of support when required. In most instances, the first port of call will be your child’s Head Mentor (Senior School) or Classroom Teacher (Junior School), who can assist with making a referral. Senior school students can also contact CAPS directly.

Where can you find us?

The new CAPS suite is downstairs in the Anderson Centre. Bec and Amy can be contacted during the school day by email or phone (02 6392 0300).
