Junior School Report

Junior School News

Junior School students and staff have been extremely busy since our last Newsletter Report and we are proud of the efforts and commitment of our junior students and all their classes and extra- curricular activities in which they have been involved.

Medieval Day

Year 8 students participated in our annual Medieval Day in early May and participated in a range of activities that promoted Medieval times. The day complemented the Unit completed in Humanities classes. It was great to see the students getting so involved in all of the activities and having so much fun.  The theme of the day was further complemented by a number of students and staff members across the school who dressed up for the day. Well done to all students and staff involved and a big thankyou to Ms Duhandzija for overseeing the activities on the day.

Impact

Students continue to be thriving this term in Impact, which is based around developing positive relationships with each other. Students took part in a number of activities this term and enjoyed their time together. Other topics in Impact are:

  • developing respectful relationships
  • zones of regulation
  • setting boundaries
  • rights and responsibilities in relationships
  • gender stereotypes
  • gender and respect
  • discrimination and harassment
  • consent
  • communication and the language of respect
  • social media and respect
  • and what to do if you or a friend are the subject of harassment or violence

Year 7 students participated in a Zones of Regulation assembly in their last session and Year 8 s enjoyed their first round of ‘Clubs,’ which allowed students from all classes to choose a club of their choice and mix with students from the other classes with whom they do not normally have the opportunity to mix.

Interschool Sports Teams

There have been many Junior students participate in Interschool Sport teams this term in Football, Badminton, Soccer, Netball and Athletics.  Congratulations to all students for participating in these teams. Thank you also to all staff who have been coaching and supporting these teams through training and coaching on game day.

Our Interschool athletics team also competed in the Darebin Interschool Athletics Team on Friday May 26 and were outstanding all day. We had over fifty students from across all year levels and we were dominant in most events on the day. The team were very supportive of each other and celebrated the success of all students. Many students will now progress to the Northern Metro Athletics Championships.
