Term 2 Newsletter

May 2023

It has been both a wonderful start to Term 2 and in my role as the new Principal of Reservoir High School. The staff, students and parents have been warmly welcoming and I already feel very much a part of the rich fabric of the school. In the first two weeks of the term, we held Year-level Assemblies where I was able to introduce myself to our students, present Student Leadership Badges and celebrate student achievements. I have already met a number of parents and am looking forward to getting to know all of our families over the coming months.

Term 2 has been incredibly busy and rewarding, with many events, celebrations and achievements taking place across our learning community. The Year 12 Outdoor Education Camp was a huge success, as have been the array of sporting events and competitions. On Friday 26th May over 60 students represented the school at the District Athletics, with many of our students demonstrating extraordinary athleticism and talent. We also hosted the United Nations Conference, where we saw students from across several schools come together to discuss and tackle global issues.

The VCE Music Performance Concert held last week was a joy and awe-inspiring. The quality of talent and musical ability was exceptional, as was the poised and confident way in which our students were able to perform in front of their peers, their teachers and parents. On the 17th May the school celebrated the International Day Against LGBTIQA+ Discrimination, where staff and students actively showed support to our LGBTQ+ peers. There is no doubt that our students, whether it be academic, sporting or creative, are capable of remarkable things.

On Tuesday 16th May we celebrated the magnificent contribution our Education Support Staff make to the school, both collectively and as individuals. The ES Staff ensure our students and families are connected to the school and oversee the smooth operation of our learning community. Thank you to all of our Education Support Staff.

At the end of Week 5, all families received Progress Reports communicating student progress, providing parents with an insight into how your child is demonstrating learning growth and achievement. The Year 9 and 10 Exam program commences shortly before our Year 10 students undertake Work Experience.

The first half of this term has been a productive beginning of what I am sure will be another successful Term 2 for Reservoir High School. I thank you all for welcoming me and I feel very privileged to serve this wonderful school community.
