Knox Australian Rules Girls carnival

Our Lysterfield Girls Australian Rules team competed at the Knox Division Gala. They finished in 3rd place out of 14 teams which is our best result in over 10 years. Amazing effort from the girls.

A special shout out to Lacey who won a league best and fairest!

Division Cross Country

12 students represented LPS in the Knox Division Cross Country Finals last week. It was an outstanding effort by all, with numerous personal bests. Flynn S, Alexandra I and Luke W have all progressed to the Eastern Metro Region finals next Tuesday. A particular congratulations to Alexandra for her 2nd place finish and Flynn for breaking the school 12/13yr Boys 3km record with a lightning 10:35min.

Visits from AFLW players

Students in Grade 3 and 5/6 had a fantastic opportunity to engage with AFLW players from the Hawthorn FC. Students interacted with Kristy and Talia who spoke about their football journey and fielded questions from curious students wanting to know more about their highlights and challenges. Students also engaged in a short clinic with the players and AFL Victoria staff. All grades will be involved in AFL Victoria clinics next week.

District Athletics

Preparation for the District Athletics is well underway. The team is published and displayed in the gym. Relay teams have been deep in training to perfect their handovers for the last 5 weeks with an eye on more team success in 2023. Students in field events have also begun training to perfect their technique leading into the competition in August.
