Year 9

Year 9 Precamp Excursion

On Wednesday 10 May all Year 9 students enjoyed a day in the CBD in preparation for the upcoming camp. Students caught the train to the city and back to Sunshine practicing how to tap on and off. They gathered at Federation Square and tried to point out some of the geographical features of the city such as the Yarra River, Eureka Tower, Flinders Street Station, and St Paul’s Cathedral. Students were then taken on a guided tour around the CBD, as well as walking with their pastoral/subject teacher around some of the laneways to view some of the dynamic street art.

On 10 May all the Year 9's went out to the city. We caught the train from Sunshine station to Flinders Street station and we walked over to Federation Square which was our meeting spot for the day. The first task for the group I was in was a tour about the history of Melbourne. We started at the Melbourne Town Hall and ended up at the Immigration Museum. We then got back to Federation Square for lunch and to get ready for our next activity. Our next activity was looking at the street art and answering some questions we had about the art. We walked around for a while then got back to Federation Square. We left Flinders Street station around 2:00pm and got to Sunshine around 2:30pm where we were then dismissed from the station. It was a fun day because it gave us a chance to get out and about and see the city before we go to camp.

On Wednesday 10 May, all the Year 9’s visited the city and explored the streets examining all of the beautiful street art. We took many photos of the street art, such as rappers, ACDC, collages, and a 5-story high picture! This city excursion really aided in making us familiar with the city in preparation for camp. We met at Federation Square and explored the city and its wonders. We went on an AMAZING tour with experienced tour guides telling us about the incredible and unique history of the land we walk on. Our favourite highlights were the jewellery store, high tea bakeries, and the gorgeous street murals! This excursion was a wonderful experience and made us even more excited for camp!
