Year 12 Business Management visits the Port of Melbourne

On Wednesday the 10th of May, students in VCE Business Management Units 3/4 visited the Port of Melbourne as part of the current Area of Study – Operations Management. We were safely driven to and from the Port by Mr Sperling who was super thrilled about seeing big ships! Upon our arrival we met Don who took us through a lesson on the Port and its operations. We were delighted to have a ship enter the harbour at this time. The students asked some great questions to ensure they were able to make connections with what they were learning in class around operations strategies to improve business efficiency and effectiveness in preparation for their upcoming assessment. We were then escorted by Don around the Port’s facilities to see firsthand how some aspects of the Port operated.

Overall, this excursion was a great experience for the class, even with some wanting to seek employment at the Port. Mrs Laura Newton

Police Visits – Years 7-12

On Friday the 12th of May, the year 7-12 students partook in presentations from the Werribee Proactive Policing Unit. These informative and educational presentations are aimed at raising awareness of issues young people may experience and provide a clear understanding of the implications and consequences associated with anti-social behaviours, and ways to seek help. It is suggested you speak with your child about the presentations to understand their learnings from them. We aim to have the Unit attend again later in the year to reinforce these important messages.Students in years 7 and 9 participated in a presentation aimed at addressing matters concerned with assaults, weapons, threats (plus others) and their associated legal consequences and types of assistance available.Years 8 and 10 to 12 viewed a presentation associated with matters around cyber-bullying, digital reputation, the role of the by-stander and their associated offences, legal consequences, reporting and assistance available. Some tips to assist your child with cyber-safety:

  • talk openly with your child about their online activity
  • be 'share aware' to protect privacy (think before posting)
  • lead by example - model positive online behaviour

We hope your child appreciates these experiences and understands the value in the educational opportunities we are providing them outside of the typical classroom environment, in regard to matters they may be experiencing.

Please contact your child’s Year Level Coordinator or a member of the Wellbeing team if you have any questions or concerns. Mrs Laura Newton

Years 10-12 Push-Up Challenge 2023

This year, we would like to participate in ‘The Push-Up Challenge.’ The Push-Up Challenge is aimed at raising awareness for mental health and shining a spotlight on the number of Australians who died by suicide. We would like to get as many students as possible in years 10-12 onboard for the challenge that runs for June 1 – 23. Even if they can’t do a push-up, any other form of exercise such as squats, sit-ups, star jumps and so on, can be done to help contribute to towards their House Colour teams daily totals.

Please have a chat with your child and if they are willing to get involved, please have them send through the expression of interest via the link below and we can get cracking on sorting out house teams. https://forms.gle/d1q6tGTR3v4YvTAQ9

Looking forward to it. Mrs Newton
