Visual Art

Hello Spectacular Artists and welcome to another term of fabulous visual art learning. This term year levels will be exploring a range of materials and techniques, such as painting, drawing and collaging. I look forward to an exciting and creative term ahead. 

Prep 

Students in Prep will create art using a variety of materials and techniques. They will learn how to create artwork informed by their own experiences and ideas along with inspiration from artworks and books. Students will learn about the difference between warm and cool colours and using patterns when painting.

Year One

Throughout this term, students will experiment with different materials and techniques to make artworks. They will investigate how to mix paint to create new colours. Students will create art incorporating painting, drawing and collaging. 

Year Two

Students will continue with their ceramics artworks this term, gaining a deep understanding of how to apply paint and designs to clay. 

Throughout the term they will develop their skills in observational and still life drawing. Students will demonstrate an ability to combine colours through shading. 

Year Three

During Term Two, students will continue investigating the artworks of Australian Indigenous Artists. Students will learn about the symbolism and meaning in traditional Indigenous art, and transfer this into their own artwork. Students will be able to share the stories they have created with aboriginal symbolism.

Year Four

Throughout this term, students will develop a deeper understanding of oil pastels, Students will create their own animal inspired artworks. They will develop their skills in blending colours and shading

Year 5

Students will continue to focus on developing their painting skills with an extended project of painting on canvas. They will develop a deep understanding of how to use art tutorials to learn new painting techniques such as blending, colour mixing and different brushstrokes. They will extend their learning by problem solving the challenges that arise.

Year 6

During Term Two, students will develop an individual studio process project where they will engage in a variety of materials and techniques. They will investigate Artworks and Artists of their choosing and use this to inform their own artistic practice. Students will use goal setting and planning to direct their learning.
