Principal's Report
ACPS you are amazing! What a fantastic week!
How sensational do our new school uniforms look!
Many thanks to Jimmy and School Council for all their work! We think they look very smart!
EXCITING STAFF NEWS!
We are thrilled to announce that Ms McQualter and her family are expecting a new addition! We are also very fortunate to announce that Ms M will be teaching 3/4M while Sian is on Maternity leave.
PPD DAY Monday 30 May
As announced on Compass Monday May 30 staff will be holding a Professional Practice Day and students will not be required to attend school. Please contact Theircare if you need to make arrangements.
Monday - the sun was shining and we all went across to Warrandyte Reserve for our Cross Country.
Our grade 3-6 students all participated in the Cross Country. Thanks to the many parents and staff who helped us on the day.
Following the fabulous Professor Bunsen Incursion - the grade 1 and 2 students were joined by the Preps and walked over to be take part in the Fun Run!
It was great to see the grade 6 students encouraging and running with their buddies.
After everyone had eaten their picnic lunch our Grade 6 leaders ran some old fashioned games and the classes rotated through the activities!
We had Tunnel Ball, egg and spoon races, sack races, mini sprints and 3 legged races! Lots of fun was had and we could hear lots of laughing coming from the students as they tried to work together in the 3 legged race or concentrate hard on keeping that egg on the spoon!
DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY:
Good luck to our students who have been selected for the District Cross Country on Tuesday May 17 at Ruffey Lake Park.
Kilometre Club 8.45am every day - all welcome!
I am thrilled to announce that one third of our students have already joined Kilometre club.
Our grade 6 leaders are wearing their new Fluro vests and enjoying their role as Co-ordinators of Kilometre club.
There are many health benefits to our students being involved: its a social, physical activity with students running or walking for 15 minutes every morning before school around the oval with our leaders recording laps.
Each week in Assembly the winning class will be awarded with the GOLDEN WHEEL (see below) for the week!
GRADE 3/4 CAMP: notices have gone out about our Phillip Island Camp June 8-10.
We have lots of very excited campers who cannot wait!
ACPS School Council AGM - Tuesday May 24 at 7pm
Our AGM will be held in the staffroom all welcome to attend.
NAPLAN: Well done to our grade 3 and grade 5 students for working so hard in Naplan this week. Thanks also to the rest of our school community for being so respectful while Naplan has been on.

Natasha Rankin Day
Last Friday we celebrated the life of our beloved Natasha Rankin. It was amazing to see so much orange around the school to brighten our day as we remembered Miss Rankin. Orange was her favourite colour and to us it symbolises the warmth, sunshine, determination and joy that Miss Rankin brought to our lives. We were able to raise $258.75 as a school which will be donated to the RooKeepers on behalf of Tash. RooKeepers came to visit Tash in the last couple of weeks before she passed.
Maggie (who received the Miss Rankin award last year) and Mrs Eastwood spoke beautifully at assembly on Friday and a video was sent of this and played to Tash's family and friends at her memorial on Saturday. It was extremely special to hear that we were part of this day and how much Miss Rankin impacted us here at ACPS. We continue to have Miss Rankin in our thoughts and we look forward to seeing which student portrays the same values that Miss Rankin admired in students when we announce an award at the end of the year in her name.
We still need your help!
The Chickens and Children's garden are growing well. If you would like to join the Chicken Care roster for a week this term please email Sarah Bailey Sarah.Bailey2@education.vic.gov.au
EGGS FOR SALE:
Our very fresh school eggs are for sale from the Office - $6 per dozen or 50 cents per egg.
SCULPTURE at The Pines
Wow! our Fish is filling up quickly!
We’ve been invited to create a sculpture for World Environment Day by the Pines Shopping Centre. Our Art Teacher (Julie Clarke) and Green Thumbs Coordinator (Sarah Bailey of 2SB) are working with the Green Thumbs team, the Arts Captains and other students to create a large, see-through fish, filled with our soft recycled plastic. It will have many smaller plastic fish around it, and will highlight the importance of keeping plastic rubbish out of our waterways so our fish can live well as we all share this planet together. We will also be able to share about ACPS recycling program. The display at the Pines Shopping Centre will be ready by the beginning of June.
A big thank you to our school community for helping with our sculpture!
Thanks Julie, Sarah for your creative ideas and initiative.
