Student Leadership

From the SRC

On Tuesday the 17th of May the S.R.C. ran a successful Themed Dress Day to raise money for the fight MND foundation.

It was great seeing everyone dressed as  their favorite character/ person! Thanks to everyone who participated and dropped by our fairy floss stall at lunch!

We look forward to our Term 3 out of uniform day on August 23rd. If you want to be part of the planning for this Themed Dress Day, we would love to see you at our weekly S.R.C and Student Leaders meetings - Thursday lunchtimes in Mason House.

The Knox Youth Forum is an event run by Nick Wakeling and this year we had the privilege of being invited to represent the college. In a series of meetings, we partook in a conversation between local student leaders and politicians in which we had some really meaningful discussions surrounding issues we, as young leaders, found prevalent.

In particular we focused on the effects of COVID-19, young peoples mental health, and the legislation and current management of drugs/other addictive substances. Prompted by the facilitator, we also shared our thoughts on matters that those in positions of influence were interested in hearing young peoples takes on.

In reflection of the lunches proceedings, I personally found it really validating to see that the views of the young people in our community were so valued by those in positions of influence.

We found that representatives from quite a number of other schools in the area had negative experiences surrounding the schools involvement during the transition back to on-site learning while we were able to talk about our positive experience of transitioning back to face-to-face learning, due to the College’s support.

From the Middle Years Captains

The start to Term 2 has been great so far! There have been some amazing sports happening and opportunities so far. The environment has been really positive in and out of the classroom and I am sure everyone is happy to have Term 2 in person, and not in remote learning, like it has been for the last two years! Looking forward to an amazing rest of the term and all the exciting and interesting opportunities ahead!
