Staffing Update

Farewell Mrs Lawrence

Sadly, we said goodbye to Mrs Amanda Lawrence at the end of Week 1 and last week staff held an afternoon tea to thank her and officially farewell her from our school. Mrs Lawrence has been such a blessing to our school over the past 7 years, particularly establishing and running our Concert Band Program and more recently as a Secondary Teacher. God bless Mrs Lawrence!

Welcome Mrs Rogers!

Mrs Tanya Rogers will be joining our secondary staff team on Monday 23 May. Mrs Rogers will primarily be teaching Food Technology. Please make her feel welcome when you see her around our school.

A bit about me

I am a secondary TAS teacher specialising in Textiles, with Food Technology and Design and Technology. I also teach Child Studies and Community and Family Studies. I have been teaching in the public system for almost 10 years, most recently at Dapto High School for 6 years and, before that, Kiama and Bomaderry High Schools.

Before becoming a teacher, I studied Fashion Design and worked in the fashion industry for many years, specialising in one-off designs, particularly bridal and formal wear. I also previously studied Creative Arts and trained and worked as an Optical Dispenser. I live in Kiama with my husband Craig and my youngest son Harry, who is in Year 9 and attends Calderwood Christian School. We have five children, two girls and three boys; our four oldest children are married and have children of their own, blessing us with six children and another grandchild due in early August.

Our family enjoy camping together and outdoor activities such as fishing, swimming and bushwalking. I am an avid reader, I also like to spend my leisure time exercising, cooking, sketching, painting and, of course, sewing.

I have grown up in my local church, serving in children’s ministry, as a youth leader and in women’s ministry and am excited about the opportunity to teach in a Christian school. As a Christian and as a teacher I am passionate about supporting students to discover their individual, God-given, gifts and talents and assisting them to enjoy developing and refining those gifts.
