Cross Country

After being washed out two weeks ago the Darebin Division Cross Country was held last Thursday at Bundoora Park. Despite having thirteen students qualify we only ended up taking nine on the day with the rescheduling creating some clashes. All nine students represented the school proudly with each child putting in a fantastic effort. A special mention to Marc Capetola, Rebecca Beninati and Aidan Gauci who all finished in the top 12 finishers and therefore earned a place in the Northern Region Cross Country this Wednesday June 15.

Results -

Anthony Ibrahim    17th

Aidan Gauci             6th

Christian Ibrahim  13th

Erika Puccio            22nd

Marc Capetola         4th

Luke Sauro              16th

Ruby Gauci              17th

Rebecca Beninati    6th

Good luck to Rebecca, Marc and Aidan, the school community is really proud of you and know that you will represent the school with great pride. If any of them can manage a top 12 finish then a state championship berth awaits!

Gala Days

The inaugural Preston District School Sports Association Gala Day was held last Thursday at Donath Reserve in Reservoir. Girls and Boys Soccer were the two competitions conducted on the day with St Raphs having a team in the top division of both. It was an exciting day with both teams putting in some good performances but it was the girls who shone through making it to the Grand Final. After navigating the round robin faultlessly they unfortunately went down 2 - 1 in the ultimate match. Congratulations to the girls on a fantastic effort! Thank you also to our coaches on the day, Miss Dullard and Mr Allan.

This Friday our attention turns to the netball and AFL football Gala Days. The netball will be held at Reservoir High School while the football is to be played across the road at Barling Reserve. The day kicks off around 9.30 going through until about 2pm. Good luck to our two netball teams and our football team!

AFL Clinics

As part of the student's Physical Education program there have been AFL clinics organised for every year level for the final two weeks of term. Employees from AFL Victoria will run the clinics, taking the students through the basic skills of the game. This will give some students exposure to the game while for others it will be a chance to fine tune their skills. It is also a wonderful opportunity for all the children to develop their ball skills.
