Year 10 Formal

GET YOUR GLAM ON!

And that’s exactly what we did.

Eighty students and nine staff stepped out in style at Benitos in Mornington for the annual Year 10 Formal, arguably setting a new record in chic. The boys cut dashing figures in their suits and the girls’ outfits ranged from classic elegance, through to glitter, shimmer and retro. It goes without saying that meticulous attention was paid to hair, nails, make-up and of course, shoes – although these, more often than not, ended under the table when it was time to dance.

And dance we did.

The music was lively and the students were up to the challenge. At one stage the whole dance floor was it bouncing up and down looking like it might collapse, and when the students added their best party voices to some songs that were hits before they were born, it looked like the roof might come off.

And we ate.

The food was a delicious choice between chicken and steak, and sticky-date pudding and chocolate brownies which all of the tables seemed to enjoy, and the teachers were pleased to see brewed coffee near the end of the night.

And there’s evidence.

The photo booth was a great success with many groups showing some original approaches to the props provided, and there were many selfies taken on the dance floor and at the tables. We are compiling a photo album to be located in the library, so if you have any photos you would like to donate please give them to Ms Lockyer so that she can include them.

And thank-you.

The atmosphere was electric, and everybody had a wonderful time so we would like to extend a very big thank-you to those who worked so hard to make it perfect. So thank-you to the committee – Eliza Kidder, Jocelyn Loukes, Keely Heriot, Lauren Sexton, Sophie McQuie, Kiana Shillington, Holly Evans, Lucaya Rich and Jamie McMillan.  In this regard, a special thank-you must go to Lucaya and Jamey who organised everything from invitations to table lists – no detail was too small for them.

Thank-you also to the staff whose presence meant the night could go ahead, and of course to Ms Lockyer who went above and beyond, and made it the special and spectacular night that it was. Thank-you very much, Heidi.
