2020 Grades

In our planning for next year we have made the decision to implement a  new setup arrangement.  Our classes will change from the current composite model  to straight grades. This will occur across all  grade levels from  Foundation to Year 6.  Due to the number of students enrolled  in year 5 and 6 in 2020 we will  continue with one 5/6 composite class as well.

Curriculum Day

Thankyou to all the staff who worked very hard on Monday diligently looking at student data and writing student reports. I know all staff thought it was a very productive and beneficial day and I am sure all parents are looking forward to reading about their child's achievements at the end of the year.

Lost Property

Just a reminder to parents about the importance of labeling all student uniform items. We are finding many brand new jumpers and hats in the lost property bin with no names. This makes it impossible to return the article of clothing back to its rightful owner. The staff will appreciate your support with this.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

Syndal South's new positive behaviour, token reward system has been positively received by our students. I have had wonderful conversations with students who have been very excited to tell me they have received 10 tokens and have placed them in the one of the choices outside Helen Freeman's office. At this stage the choice of free play with all the teachers is the most popular of the whole school rewards. I think I am going to need to bring my runners to school very soon.

Year 6/7 Transition

It is that time of year when our year six students are commencing their 6/7 transition events at all of the  local secondary schools in preparation for 2020. It is very important that if you have any extra information that you believe is important for the school to know about your child and this information  will help the school in their planning of year seven class groups, that you directly contact the relevant secondary college. The best contact people will either be the  Year 7 coordinator or  the Well-Being Officers. Alternatively you can contact me to arrange a  meeting here at Syndal South with representatives from the secondary college.  All of our secondary schools wish to make the year seven transition as smooth and successful for all of our  year six students as possible.

Term 4 Holidays

Just a reminder to parents that if you are  intending to take holidays before the school year ends, to please notify the office of the dates so that it can be recorded into Compass. This will also help teachers with preparations for end of year class events.
